El Caballero del Páramo is the latest photobook by artist and photographer Tatiana Aristizábal—an evocative work that explores the relationship between memory, territory, and conflict in Colombia. Through a combination of expanded photography, family archives,biomaterials, and visual experimentation, the book reconstructs the story of her brother’s 2000 kidnapping by the ELN guerrilla during the country’s internal war.
Tatiana is a Colombian artist and photographer who graduated from the University of Kentucky. She earned a Master’s in Artistic Photography from EFTI School in Madrid in 2022. Her work explores the relationship between land and being, as well as the complex ways we interact with one another. Her inspiration comes from growing up in 1990s Colombia, becoming an immigrant who had to leave her country for 16 years, and the lasting sense of disconnection from her homeland. Her work has been exhibited in galleries across the United States, Italy, and Colombia.
